PERSONALITY If Roger Davies was pinned down for a sin, it would be gluttony. The boy love, love, loves to eat, and eats an alarming amount at an alarming rate. He can seem a bit pigheaded at times, loud, and a jerk, but he never tries to start an argument and can be surprisingly tactful at times. FAMILY Roger Davies was born a gorgeous baby. Healthy and bouncing, he was the pride and joy of his parents. His father was ecstatic to have a son, and his mother was the prime example of a glowing mother. But, as he grew older, Roger Davies stayed gorgeous. His mother, beautiful and used to a lot of attention herself, was taken aback at how many compliments her son got even as he left adorable babyhood. As years, that were cut into 365 slots, ticked by, the attention never quite reverted to Katherine Davies. A wealthy pureblood witch, Katherine never had to lift a finger, but delighted and became dependant on all the modeling offers she got on a daily basis, even after she left her mid 20's. The world was her oyster, and so she felt rebellious and free enough to marry muggleborn Bruce Davies. The two really, really loved each other, but sometimes, love simply isn't enough. As not a single modeling job arrived at Katherine's door after the birth of Roger, she felt disappointed, but willing to leave that chapter of her life behind her as she was entering motherhood. But when that same attention, once hers, was directed to Roger, a thorn began to grow in Katherine's side. Soon, the bundles of child acting contracts and modeling offers sailed in to the point where she took a large stack of mail and pushed it onto her small son. I don't want to be near you! she screamed. Jealousy had turned her ugly inside, and stress and anxiety were etched permanently into her face. Katherine, Bruce snapped. Don't-- I can't take it anymore! The sight of him makes me sick, his mother bawled. Roger never forgot that sound or those words. She left that night, and after a while, he realized that she would never return. Unable to leave his son, his father made sure that Roger grew up with lots of love and care. If there was one thing that Roger didn't have to doubt, it was that his father loved him. But, his father loved his mother still, and so every Christmas, Roger was sent to stay with his father's best friend and his family while his father went to tend to his ill wife. That is how Roger Davies and Spencer Capper grew up to be like brothers, spending so many Christmas holidays together. Roger doesn't resent his father leaving during Christmas one bit, and perhaps this is because he was forced to be logical about these things at such a young age. "Do you ever hope that your mum will ask you to come visit?" a young Spencer Capper asked. "I know she won't so..." Roger replied, methodically unwrapping his present from Spencer's mom. Indeed, at the age of 25, Roger has only two memories of his living mother. One, where she's gazing at him with that beautiful face of hers and smiling so brightly. The other, where she's bawling and screaming, I don't want to be near you. While Roger has grown up to be a good natured and fair wizard, his mother's traumatic behaviour has made it impossible for him to be in a serious relationship. His looks are just as sharp though (:D) as shown by Fleur Delacour accepting him to be her Yule Ball date. HIS PRESENT SITUATION Once an aspiring quidditch player, the former Ravenclaw fell into the underground world of racing. Costly and dangerous, Roger was introduced to the nightly races by a former team mate, and became addicted to the thrill. But what really made him throw away his chances for the major leagues was when a respected opponent of his introduced him to broom drifting. Using old brooms, that didn't have all the excessive safety and control charms that modern day everyday brooms were packed with, drifters manually parked the tail of their brooms in mid air, allowing the head of the brooms to slip into an angle deep enough to allow the broom to "spiral out of control" while the tail remained locked at one point. Normally, such a spiral would lead to an accident for regular witches and wizards, but drifters, with their old brooms, learned to control their brooms and could achieve amazing bursts of natural, scientific speed, as well as sharp turns unobtainable by even the Firebolt 7. As the sport rises in popularity, Roger has begun to participate in professional competitions and ranks as 6th in the Volo League. The Western division falls under Volo, whilst the Eastern division falls under the rules of the Hayai league. Both leagues are quite small at the moment, but are receiving a large amount of attention and financing from umbrella corporations who wish to have their hands in the new and upcoming. Roger gets annoyed when certain friends warn him against the sport, what with its lack of job security and the high risk of a fatal accident. If a drifter loses control of his or her broom, any sudden stop, whether it be the broom freezing or a smash into a wall, would smash their brains against their skulls instantly due to the sheer speed. Although very well off when he comes fresh out of a competition with a high ranking, the arrival of his next pay cheque is critically uncertain. The young man prefers to spend the money he does win on an outing with friends as opposed to something more permanent. But despite his love of friends, the lad is straight laced . His aversion to cigars and alcohol is baffling to his best friend, Spencer Capper, who is much more indulgent than he in the vices of life. This "good boy" rep is also baffling to his drifting opponents, who have dubbed him as the "Cleansweeper" as a poke to his virtuous ways, but as well as a respect to his skill with sharp, clean turns. | |||||||||
